President's Message
by Rob Istace
I
hope you had a productive and profitable 2008. Our provincial economy
continues to lead the nation in growth, and our industry has never been
busier.
There are a number of key issues facing our industry and
your feedback and support are key in helping to resolve these issues.
Changing the apprenticeship and journeyperson ratio is important to
ensure our industry continues to grow and meet growth demands.
This newsletter includes a copy of the strategic plan for
our association and our industry.
Please review the plan and provide your feedback on the
points included and the direction of our association. Your input is
very important to help move our industry ahead, so please take a few
minutes to review the strategic plan on the website
(click here) and provide your comments.
As always, I include members of our Board of Directors.

Proposed High Voltage Electrical
Safety Training Changes
The Board
of Directors has been in contact with Occupational Health and Safety
concerning the proposed new training requirements for qualified workers
in the high voltage electrical safety, which is set out in Section 45 of
The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1966.
ECA
of Saskatchewan wants to provide comments on the proposed changes before
they are implemented. Central to our concern is how these changes will
affect how our member companies conduct their business. On your behalf,
the Board wants adequate industry consultation before any changes
occur.
Stay
tuned for updates on this issue, as the Board of Directors meets with
O.H.& S. officials.
